James D. Rebello Sr.
Swansea - James D. Rebello Sr., age 87, passed away surrounded by his family on October 23rd. Born in Swansea, he was the son of the late Manuel and Lillian (Simons) Rebello.
Jim began his military career in 1957 with the US Army and continued on as a member of the National Guard for many years. Throughout his life, his love of music was a constant, playing in multiple bands around New England and entertaining the elderly with his fellow band members at the Tiverton, Barrington and Seekonk Senior Centers. Jim held many positions within organizations he devoted his time to; Master of Newport Country Pamona Grange #4, Gate Keeper of the RI State Grange and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his children; Susan, Ann Marie, James Jr., Matthew Rebello and Melissa Thurston; his sister, Veronica Soares; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his partner Mary Costa, his brothers; David, William, Manuel and his sister Bertha.
Family and friends are invited to attend a burial at St. Patricks Cemetery in Somerset, with full honors, on Tuesday, November 1st at 10:30 A.M.
