Lorraine A. Botts

Posted

Lorraine A. Botts, 77, passed away with her son by her side on March 9, 2023, after a short battle with glioblastoma.

Lorraine grew up in the Hillsgrove section of Warwick. She was the daughter of Richard and the late Florence DeSilva of Coventry, and sister to Roger and the late Corrine DeSilva (Cranston) and Richard and Cathy DeSilva (Warwick).

She is survived by her only son, Donald Botts, Jr., and Karen Couto of East Greenwich as well as her husband, Gilbert Larrabee of Rehoboth, MA and stepdaughter Brenda and Randy Jenness, also of Rehoboth. She adored her grandchildren, Molly and Anna Botts, Michael Jenness and Kasey Butler as well as her great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews

Lorraine was a 1963 graduate of Pilgrim High School and attended RIC. She was retired from the State of Rhode Island where she worked for over 30 years. She also worked for the RI Bicentennial Commission the mid 70's.

One of Lorraine's proudest achievements was being a RI state high school champion shooting a .22 rifle. She served the town of Rehoboth as a Selectman, was president of the Rehoboth Senior Center, and was currently serving as an officer for Rehoboth's Legion Post 302 Auxiliary Committee prior to her illness.

Lorraine persevered as a single mother, overcoming many wrinkles that life threw her way. Even though she couldn't overcome her last challenge, she continued to take it all in stride due to her strength and faith in God. Her illness took away what she loved to do most: socializing with her numerous friends and family, talking about politics in her various Facebook groups, and enjoying the local music scene, particularly Kalifornia Karl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 10:00AM at St. Rose and St. Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Interment will follow at Rehoboth Village Cemetery, 190 Bay State Road, Rehoboth, MA.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 1:00PM-4:00PM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Friends of Rehoboth Animal Shelter, PO Box 634, Rehoboth, MA 02769 would be appreciated.
