The 2021 Kids Summer Learning Center is offering Robotics, taught by Mr. Jay Duddy of Berkley Middle school, the weeks of June 28-July 2, July 6-July 9, July 19-July 23, and August 2-6. Students will build a Lego EV3 Robot and use LabView software to program their robot. Students will learn to program robot behavior using motor rotations, sound, light, and ultrasonic sensors. The curriculum module is designed to teach core computer programming, logic, and reasoning skills using robotic engineering content. All this creativity and learning will take place while students are enjoying themselves and having fun while doing it! The 2021 Kids Summer Learning Center is offering Kids Drawing, taught by Mr. Thomas Grandmaison a local retired professional photographer, the week of June 28-July 2 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. This class is for students who like to draw or would like to learn how to draw. Students don’t need any previous drawing experience, just a desire to draw. Students will explore various two dimensional materials and methods, focusing on still life, portraits, interiors, and landscapes from direct observation. All drawing materials are included. The 2021 Kids Summer Learning Center is offering How To Be A World Traveler during the week of June 28 - July 2. Mr. Matthew de Matos, who is part of the Somerset Berkley Regional High School Foreign Language Department, will immerse the class in a variety of cultural activities. The class runs from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m, where kids will be traveling virtually to various countries around the world. They will learn about and participate in activities that make their cultures unique, interesting, and fun. This course will not only teach the kids some basic Portugese and Spanish, but also teach them how to dance and play traditional games.
