Town and state officials gathered at Francis Farm on Saturday for the opening of the new playground.
Rehoboth Selectman Rob Johnson said $300,000 had been obtained from the Community Preservation Committee for the project. Johnson thanked members of the Highway and Building departments, as well as the support of the Board of Selectmen.
Johnson added the playground “fits in perfectly” with the property.
A sign notes the playground is dedicated to Christopher, Gloria, and Ray Malo in memory of Zachary, Nicholas, and Kaleigh Malo. The three children perished in an apartment fire in December 2000.
State Senator Kelly Dooner, R-Taunton, read a citation on behalf of state legislators.
“When I come to Rehoboth, I just feel so grounded here,” Dooner said. “It’s just a sense of community that I don’t see anywhere right now.”
