Rehoboth, MA — Longtime Rehoboth resident Paul Pabis has added another remarkable milestone to a distinguished career with the completion of his Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from Northeastern University, Class of 2025.

A steadfast commitment to leadership and lifelong learning has marked Pabis’s academic journey. In addition to his Ed.D., Pabis holds a Master of Science in Leadership, a Bachelor of Science in Business, and an Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. He also served on the Parents Leadership Council at Roger Williams University.

For more than 40 years, Pabis’ professional career spanned television broadcasting, engineering, public service, and education. He retired in 2022 after nearly three decades at Paramount/CBS in Boston, where he served as Director of Operations and Engineering for WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV38. There, he led a 50-person team overseeing technical operations, engineering, IT, and facilities management. He was instrumental in the success of high-profile productions including the Boston Pops Holiday Spectacular and New England Patriots broadcasts. His leadership extended beyond operations; he was a valued mentor in the Viacom/CBS Employee Mentorship Program, shaping the next generation of media professionals.

Earlier in his career, Pabis held engineering and leadership roles at WJAR-TV in Cranston, RI, and owned the television production company Crewsline, Inc. He also operated WKFD Radio in Wickford, RI, modernizing the station’s infrastructure and improving the station’s reach. His contributions to the industry earned him multiple Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), including national recognition for ESPN’s X-Games and regional honors for special event programming.

Currently, Pabis serves as a background investigator for Peraton’s Risk Decision Group, supporting federal agencies through detailed background investigation services for the US Government in the federal, intelligence, and civilian space.

Beyond his professional achievements, Pabis has been a dedicated community member in Rehoboth, where he has lived for more than 30 years. He served on the boards of directors for the Rehoboth Youth Baseball & Softball Association, the Rehoboth Youth Soccer Club, and the Town of Rehoboth’s Cable TV Advisory Board. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Pabis played in the Rhode Island Men’s Senior Baseball League and continues to play golf regularly.

Pabis is married to Patrice Wood, a longtime broadcast journalist. Together, they are the proud parents of Jonathan and Stephanie Pabis, both of whom serve their communities as law enforcement officers.

Through decades of professional and civic service, Pabis has remained a dedicated leader, mentor, and advocate for education, media, and community development. His recent academic achievement is a fitting tribute to a life built on learning, service, and leadership.
