Covid Rates Drop in Seekonk

Posted

The number of Covid-19 infections in Seekonk continues to drop, although the town is still classified as red. According to School Superintendent Rich Drolet, the schools have reported a total of 175 positive cases, six of those in the past two weeks. “I was expecting a deluge of more positive cases today after the vacation week, but there were only a couple new cases that were reported today,” Drolet said Monday. All students are now back in school for five days a week of in-person instruction.

In the average daily incidence rate per 100,000 in the state of Massachusetts, Seekonk is now at 20.9. The daily positivity rate is now 5.14 percent. Drolet explained when the town drops below 5 percent, Seekonk should be classified as yellow. Red is the designation for cities and towns with the highest rates of new infections.
