Dennis Alan Leclerc, 55, died Saturday, July 17th, 2021 at his home in Seekonk, Massachusetts, after a twenty-three year battle with multiple sclerosis. Dennis’s proudest achievements in life were the two daughters he leaves behind, Lindsey Leclerc, 26, and Katelyn Leclerc, 22.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he was a son of Omer and Aline (Morin) Leclerc, who spent the last ten years as caretakers for their beloved son. He spent his childhood in Cumberland, Rhode Island, before moving with his family to Seekonk in 1976, where he lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from Seekonk High School in 1983, where he was very active in football, basketball, and baseball.

He earned an Associate’s Degree in Social Science in 1989 from Roger Williams College. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1984, serving in the 143rd Security Police Squadron of the Rhode Island Air National Guard where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. One of the proudest moments of his service was guarding Air Force One when President Clinton visited Rhode Island. Upon returning home from basic training, he joined the Seekonk Fire Department, where he was a firefighter, emergency medical technician, and arson investigator. He also served as a special officer in the Seekonk Police Department. In 1998 he suffered an injury while carrying a patient that soon ended his ability to serve. He eventually returned to work as a dispatcher for Seekonk’s Public Safety Communications Department. He was a proud member of the International Fire Fighters Association, Local 1931.

Dennis prided himself on never missing a sporting event for his girls, serving as coach on their teams from his wheelchair and always cheering them on from the sidelines. He drove them countless miles from New England to Florida to play in their games, and to visit their favorite vacation place, Walt Disney World.

Besides his parents and two daughters, Dennis leaves his brother Michael Leclerc, sister Jo Anne Dyson (David), aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous other family and friends. He was also Goodness to niece Emma Dyson and nephew Thomas Dyson.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in Seekonk Cemetery, Dexter Avenue, Seekonk. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8.
