Jean R. DuPont passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 87 years of age. He was born on January 13, 1935 in the Central Falls home of his parents, Thomas L. DuPont and Bertha (Doyon) DuPont, the second child of five. Jean graduated from LaSalle Academy and Johnson & Wales University with a degree in Business Administration. He was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served from 1958 to 1960 as a Chaplain’s Assistant at the US Army Base in Muenchweiler, Germany. Although Jean met the love of his life at Shepard’s Department Store in Providence, RI where they both worked, it was in Germany that he married Audrey (White) DuPont on June 6, 1959. After completion of his term of service, he and Audrey lived briefly in Barrington before moving to East Providence, where he lived the rest of his life.

Jean worked as a Service Manager at Buckley & Scott Oil Company for more than 30 years. For over 50 years, he also worked part-time as a church organist, following in his father’s footsteps, at several churches throughout New England. Second only to his love of family, Jean was passionate about music, with an extensive collection of classical music albums and compact discs, which he listened to at very high volumes. He traveled throughout Europe, visiting churches and purchasing music played on the pipe organs within them. His collection was eventually donated to the New England Conservatory of Music. The pipe organ on which he practiced in his former home was donated to St. Martha’s Church in East Providence. He was a past President of both the American Guild of Organists and the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers.

Jean was predeceased by his older brother Bernard, his youngest brother Gerald, and his brother-in-law Joseph Linder. Jean leaves behind his beloved wife Audrey; his sister Jacqueline Linder and his brother Laurent, Laurent’s wife Dabney, and Gerald’s wife Nancy; his two daughters: Karen Beck (husband Patrick) and Lisa Fitzpatrick (husband Brian); four grandchildren: Craig Fitzpatrick, Megan (Fitpatrick) Oliver (husband Jordan), Christopher Fitzpatrick (wife Katherine), and Colin Beck. He also leaves two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A private funeral will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where he will be buried with his parents.
