Jose A. “Joe” Medeiros, 86 formerly of Fox Point, Providence, R.I., passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Crestwood Nursing Home in Warren, Rhode Island. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Pimental) Medeiros. Joe was born in Ginetes, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late, Silvano & Conceicao (Viveiros) Medeiros.

He worked as a supervisor for thirty-one years for American Insulated wire, worked for the East Providence School Department in Maintenance for ten years, A Parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Providence, R.I., Joe was one of the founders of the Holy Ghost Feast and Holy Rosary Band.

In May of 2015 Joe was recognized by the Diocese of Providence for his personal service and holiness to the church when he received the Lumen Gentium Parish Award. He was one of four individuals from the Diocese of Providence that received the parish award that year.

Joe worked as a Funeral attendant for the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME for many years and his kind and relaxed demeanor will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.

He leaves two brothers, John Medeiros of East Providence, R.I., Albert Medeiros of East Providence, R.I., two sisters, Gilberta Donley of Swansea, Massachusetts, Zelia Pike of Cape Coral, Florida, sister-in-law, Osvalda Medeiros, many nieces and nephews, Joe was the brother of the late Maria Medeiros and Manuel Medeiros.

His Funeral will be held Monday, May 16, 2022, at 8:30 am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, R.I., to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, Traverse Street, Providence, R.I. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, R.I.

Calling hours will be held Sunday May 15, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME.
