Seekonk Public Library important update regarding the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions

Posted

Dear Friends,

We are excited to announce that as of May 29, many pandemic restrictions will be lifted and we can resume a more normal approach to library services. We know this has been a challenging year for our community. We thank you for your continued support, flexibility, and patience, as together, we navigated an unfamiliar landscape. We have additional changes to announce, but have no fear, these are good changes!

Here’s what you need to know:

Curbside Services - We are pleased to announce that we will continue to offer curbside service.

Meeting Room - Our Meeting Room will once again be available for use by the community. We ask all interested groups to visit the Meeting Room page, review the Meeting Room Use Policy, and complete and submit a Meeting Room Use application.

Face Coverings - As of May 29, face coverings will no longer be required for vaccinated individuals. While not required, we encourage non-vaccinated individuals to wear face coverings as many children who visit the library will not yet be vaccinated.

Programs - We look forward to resuming in-person programming. Please note that much of our Summer programming was planned in early Spring, using the August 1 reopening date originally forecasted by the Commonwealth. We will offer a variety of small outdoor and virtual activities throughout the summer and anticipate offering in-library programming in the Fall.

Friends Book Sale - the Friends of the Library has some exciting new plans - look for pop-up “Shop the Shed’ events in the near future! We will let you know when the Friends are ready to accept donations.

Quarantining of Materials - As of May 3, we no longer quarantine items that have been returned.

General Library Use - While some layout changes were necessary over the course of the year to accommodate social distancing and Massachusetts COVID-19 Safety Standards, we are pleased to announce that most seating and computer services have been restored.

We’ll continue to monitor and “tweak” our service approach throughout the coming months.

Let’s all have a great summer and continue to connect, learn, and grow at the library!

Warm Regards,

Kate Hibbert
