Posted

Cecile Marie (Geoffrey) Theroux, 63, of Whitinsville, MA, formerly of Riverside, RI, died peacefully on September 18, after a long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Arthur Theroux.

Cecile grew up in Barrington and lived in Riverside for many years before moving to Whitinsville. She enjoyed all the adventures Art could think up. Either just together, or with family members or friends, Ceil experienced many cruises, musical entertainment, sporting events and much more. In quieter times, she used her talents at jewelry making, knitting, crocheting and crafts to create gifts for members of her large family and her multitude of friends.

Cecile worked at Rhode Island School of Design for 34 years. She was an administrative assistant in Student Affairs and Student Financial Services. Between 2000 and 2009, she led the Commencement Planning Committee. She was a mentor and staunch supporter of the students that entered her life. Some of her past work-study students are still friends after 20 years.

During her long working career, Ceil also explored part-time jobs that gave her the opportunity to expand her other interests. She was a successful Tupperware and Pampered Chef salesperson. She worked at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket during PawSox games, meeting new people and cheering for the games. Cecile found satisfaction in helping people put together the perfect outfit to lift their spirits or attend a special event during her time at Coldwater Creek.

In addition to her loving husband of 27 years, she leaves behind three dogs from her long line of beloved pets, Moki, Kaya, and Aurora. The daughter of the late Edward R. and Georgette (Wylie) Geoffrey, Cecile is grieved by many, including three brothers and four sisters: George Geoffrey of Natick, CT and his wife Stacey, Veronica Thomas of Riverside, Paul Geoffrey of Seekonk, MA and his wife Susan, Rilla Bieberbach of Riverside and her husband Fred, Patricia D’Aiello of Rehoboth, MA, Ted Geoffrey of Riverside and his wife Alice, and Denise Geoffrey of Riverside. She was also the sister of the late Daniel Geoffrey. Her large family also includes many dearly loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Ceil also leaves behind beloved sisters-in-law Susan Theroux, Karen Theroux DiTomasso and Mary Geoffrey, many sisters of her heart, including Monique Hauser, and scores of friends that will miss her lively spirit, zest for life and that beautiful infectious laugh.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside from 5-7 p.m.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, at 11 a.m.
