Dorothy (Mello) Maia

Dorothy (Mello) Maia,88, of East Providence, passed away on Tuesday, October 11,2022 at home, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of the late Jose B. Maia.

Dorothy was born in East Providence, the daughter of the late Manuel and Angelina (Amaral) Mello.

Mrs. Maia was an Inspector for the B A Ballou Jewelry Company for 19 years, before retiring.

She was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church; she was a member of the sewing bees.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and Thanksgiving and Christmas were extremely important to her, for getting together with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Kenneth Maia of Palm Gardens, Florida, Catherine Maia of West Warwick, Christine Maia of East Providence, and Kimberly Moniz of East Providence.

She was the sister of Brenda Heron, Manuel Mello, Robert Mello.

Dorothy was the grandmother of Dylan, Jasmin, Tayla, Aliah and Jesse. She was also the great grandmother of Gabriel and Tessa.

Mrs. Maia is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Edward Mello, Mary Flaxington, and Manuel Mello, Jr.

Her funeral will be held Monday October 17, 2022, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Sunday 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the funeral home.
