Edward “Ted” McShane

Edward “Ted” McShane, 69, of Peach Orchard Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on June 16, 2023 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Maryann (Pontrelli) McShane.

Born in Lurgan, County Armagh, Ireland, he was a son of the late Charles P. and Nancy (Goodby) McShane, he was a lifelong resident of East Providence.

Mr. McShane was an elevator mechanic for the Payne-Thysseen Elevator Co., East Providence for 35 years. He was a member of Local # 39 IVEC.

Ted was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. He was a former Riverside Little League Coach. A sports enthusiast, he was a devoted New England sports fan. He enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his loving grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 46 years, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa M. Horn and her husband Joseph D. Horn of Bristol; a son, Daniel E. McShane of West Palm Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew and Carleigh; four brothers, Patrick J. McShane of Riverside, Anthony J. McShane of Bristol, Martin McShane of East Providence and Joseph C. McShane of Riverside; a sister, Lori Prew of Riverside; two sister-in-law’s, Diana Pontrelli of Las Vegas, NV and Donna Larrabee of Dartmouth, MA; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul, Kevin, Michael and Shaun McShane and Mary Madden.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday June 25, 2023 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside from 3-6 p.m. A private family burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
