Eleanor L. (Kent) Gladding, 98, of East Providence, R.I., died Oct. 22, after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of East Providence where her father's family operated the White Rock Dairy and farm.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman E. Gladding. She is survived by her daughter Janice K. Baeder, of Enfield Conn., her son, Kent W. Gladding, of Cranston, R.I., her grandchildren, David and Anne Gladding, Jeff and Heather Luterman, and four great grandchildren.

Eleanor was a member of Hope Congregational Church, and the Bristol chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Eleanor loved music, and during her heyday, won dance competitions at the old Rhodes on the Pawtuxet ball room. She was very interested in interior design, and spent endless time and energy redecorating every space in her house at least once annually, which provided amusement for visitors and somewhat shortened her husband's life span.

In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, in loving memory of Eleanor. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nursing staff and management of St. Elizabeth's Manor, Bristol, R.I., and Evergreen Nursing Center, East Providence, R.I.

Eleanor will be laid to rest with her husband at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, R.I. Funeral services and burial will be private
