Joseph F Crowell 92, of Riverside RI passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 8, 2018.
He is survived by his Beloved Wife Jane of 67 wonderful years. Joe was born in Central Falls on December 23, 1925.
He graduated from URI and from Rhode Island College with a Masters in Secondary Education.
He is survived by his daughter Carolyn Muller (Michael) of Deerfield Beach, FL, son Peter Crowell and his wife (Brenda) of Centerville, Cape Cod, granddaughters Grace and Audra Crowell, and brother Robert along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Minot and Francis Crowell, twin brother Minot, brother David, and sister Francis Bessette.
A proud WWII Veteran. Joe served his county in the US Navy in the Pacific and was honored and proud to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC last April. A true member of "The Greatest Generation".
A long-time communicant of St. Mark's Riverside, where he served as Senior Warden, Vestry Member and Delegate to State and National Episcopal Conventions. He was also a communicant of Barrington Presbyterian Church.
He and his wife Jane owned and operated J F Crowell Florist in Barrington from 1954-1959. He continued to enjoy gardening and flower arranging for many years. Joe was a Math Teacher for 42 years in the Barrington School system. He loved teaching and tutoring young students to help them go on in life to be successes. He was an avid college basketball fan, if the ball was bouncing and the sneakers were squeaking you knew what he was watching.
Everyone whose lives were touched by him have wonderful memories as he was a kind, generous and compassionate man with a great sense of humor. A wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Uncle.
A Celebration of this life will be held on Thursday, April 12th at 11 a.m. at Barrington Presbyterian Church 400 County Road, Barrington, 401-245-2218. A collation will follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will be private.
