Joyce M. (Baker) Rebello

Joyce M. (Baker) Rebello 63, of Riverside, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday , October 14, 2023, at the RI Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on April 25, 1960, to the late George and Marjorie (Cundy) Baker, Joyce brought joy, strength, and resilience to all who knew her.

Joyce was a beloved wife to Arthur Rebello (E.P.F.D. Ret.) for over 42 years, a loving mother to her three sons, Kyle Rebello of Providence, Corey Rebello (C.F.D) and his wife Jess of Seekonk, and Shane Rebello of Riverside. She was also the cherished grandmother of Gianna, Corbin, Granger, and Lillamae. Joyce was the dear sister of George Baker Jr., and his wife Betsey of Estero, Florida, Bonnie Oliver and her husband John of East Providence, and Nancy Hanoian and her husband Harry of Narragansett. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Joyce was a strong-willed, no-nonsense individual, with a soft side that endeared her to everyone she met. As a firefighter's wife, she carried the weight of raising three boys, two of them being Irish twins, with grace and tenacity. Her love for animals was evident from her family pet store and her father's farm in Rehoboth, where she spent time with her horses, cows, and goats, including her beloved donkey, Harry. This love of farm life was a tradition that one of her sons has proudly carried on.

Joyce had a profound love for the water, nurtured from her time at her summer home on Echo Lake. She learned to water ski at the tender age of five, a testament to her adventurous spirit. Her love for fishing was also notable; she would eagerly await her father's return home to join him, never shying away from the worms.

Joyce was also an avid softball player, starting as a freshman at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School. She continued playing in softball leagues in East Providence and in Warren, where her amazing arm made her a formidable opponent. Known for her ability to throw a strike from left field to home plate, and hit home runs all day, she was a force to be reckoned with on the field.

Above all, Joyce was a woman who loved her family deeply. Her bonds with her sisters, friends, and family were unshakeable and everlasting. She was a woman of strength who lived her life with passion, resilience, and a love for adventure. Her spirit and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In the wake of Joyce's passing, we remember not just the date of her birth and death, but the dash in between those dates. That dash represents a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a spirit that left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Joyce M. (Baker) Rebello will be dearly missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Her life was a testament to the power of love, strength, and family, and her story will continue to inspire for generations to come.
