Mona Akkaouiof

Mona Akkaouiof East Providence, passed away at the age of 75 on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Romeo Akkaoui and the daughter of the late Jamil and Marie Akkaoui. Mona was born in Lebanon and worked as a seamstress making custom drapery most of her life before retiring.

Mona is survived by her loving family: Son, Richard Akkaoui and his wife Gina of Johnston, and Son, Romeo Akkaoui, Jr. and his wife Dina of Chepachet. She had six cherished grandchildren: Madison, Noah, Emaly, Romeo III, Amelia and Nathan Akkaoui. She was also the dear sister of eight siblings.

Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking her famous Lebanese dishes for gatherings. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, affectionately called “Tyta”, who was always there when we needed her … She will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service which will be held on Wednesday, September 20th at 11:00 am in St. George Maronite Catholic Church: 1493 Cranston St. Cranston, RI 02920. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery: 550 Wampanoag Trail Riverside, RI 02915. VISITING HOURS will be held in church prior to her funeral service from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
