Pamela S. (Oddi) Watson
Pamela S. (Oddi) Watson 66, of Riverside, affectionately known as Pam, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, at Hope Hospice in Providence, RI. Born in Providence on August 28, 1957, she was the cherished wife of James Watson for over 38 years and the beloved mother of Jared and Tyler Watson, both of Riverside.
Pam was the daughter of the late Adrian and Helen (Medeiros) Oddi, and the caring sister of Deborah Phillips of Riverside and the late Paula McShane. Pam was a pillar of support to her family, bestowing love and care on all her nieces and nephews, particularly her first niece and best friend, Kelly Cotoia, and her husband Joe. Known as "Auntie Pam" to many, she extended her nurturing spirit beyond her immediate family, always ready with a kind word, a hug, or a shared laugh.
Educated at Rhode Island College, Pam graduated in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. She began her teaching career at St. Brendan School in Riverside in 1981. After taking time off to raise her children, Pam returned to the profession she loved in 1999, this time at the East Providence School Department. Her dedication to her students was evident when she was named "Teacher of the Year" in 2012 at Oldham Elementary School. Pam's most recent position was as a Librarian at Waddington Elementary School. She was a beacon of support to her students, cheering them on at school events and creating a special Halloween experience that her students would remember for years to come.
Pam was a long-time resident of East Providence and an active member of her community. She was a parishioner of St. Brendan Church, a member of the Loggia Maria Lodge 2406, and a former Den Mother. She was also a devoted hockey, baseball, and basketball mom, never missing a game. Pam had a deep love for the beach, particularly Martha's Vineyard, where she spent many joyful summer vacations with family and friends. She was also a Board member of the Terrace Association
A lover of music and literature, Pam enjoyed playing the guitar and singing at family gatherings and for her students. She was also an avid reader and a member of a book club with close friends. Pam was a thoughtful, passionate, and selfless individual who always put others before herself. Her kindness and genuine care for others were evident in every interaction, making everyone she met feel special.
Pam's strength, perseverance, and radiant smile will be missed by all who knew her. As we remember Pam, let us take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived, cherishing the memories we shared with her.
The Watson family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful care team at the Fain Center; Miriam Hospital, especially Dr. Breakstone, for her dedicated care. To Sister Kim who helped guide and support Pam on her spiritual journey; to Hope Health Hospice for their dedication, caring and kindness, you are all special angels. Also, to everyone who touched Pam’s life in the past four years at the Fain Center and Miriam Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 10:00am in St. Brendan Church, 60 Turner Avenue, Riverside, RI. Visiting hours will be held on Monday September 18, 2023, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pam’s memory may be made to the Fain Center, 164 Summit Avenue, Providence, RI, 02906. Burial is private.
