Richard K. Casey “Blue Eyes”

Richard K. Casey “Blue Eyes”, 86, of East Providence passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (Pearson) Casey. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late James F. and Mary J. (Delargy) Casey. Rick was a graduate of Lasalle Academy and went on to work as a diamond setter for Herff-Jones Inc. for many years before he retired.


Rick was the devoted father of Michael C. Fraatz, Mark K. Casey and his wife Jill, Brenda L. Reis and her husband Frederick, and Diane E. Casey and her wife Bethany. He also leaves three step-children, April J. Roppolo and her husband Cosimo, Sherri L. Owens-Henry and her husband Roger, and Wendy M. Owens. Loving grandfather of 17 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.


Rick was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and involved in many of the church organizations. He ran the Tuesday and Thursday men’s doubles tennis league at Center Court for 30 years, in charge of over 70 players and an active member of the Parkinson’s Kick Boxing team. Rick enjoyed bowling and playing cards with family, as well as friends, of the East Providence Senior Center. His greatest pleasure was spending time with family. He was the bond that kept us all together and he will be sadly missed.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. from the Perry McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick’s Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 27th from 4 – 7 P.M.
