Screening & Discussion of the film "The Public" with URI's Media Education Lab

Posted by joycemay

Just what does the “public” in public library mean? And what do libraries have to do with social issues like homelessness, mental illness, and the opioid crisis? Come for an afternoon screening of Emilio Estevez’s new film The Public and stay for a discussion about the issues it raises and how well the film, or any film, can address them. Estevez stars, along with Alec Baldwin, Jena Malone, Michael Kenneth Williams, Taylor Schilling, and Christian Slater. Co-sponsored by the Media Education Lab at URI and the East Providence Public Library.
