William L. Carroll

William L. Carroll, 96, of Riverside, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara H. (Kinsella) Carroll.

Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Mary (Reilly) Carroll and James T. Carroll, he lived in Riverside for 68 years.

William was employed by the United States Navy at Quonset for 10 years and General Dynamics for 30 years.

He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII aboard U.S.S St. Mary’s in the Pacific Theater.

A member of the Riverside American Legion Post #10, William enjoyed woodworking and carpentry but most of all spending time with his loving family.

He is survived by five daughters, Patricia A. Thacker and her husband Michael of Barrington, Maribeth Carroll of North Kingstown, Barbara-Jean Vallante and her husband Anthony of Rumford, Leanne Pedulla and her husband Anthony of Riverside and Geralyn Carroll of Barrington; seven grandchildren, Kylene M. Arredondo, Kaitlyn R. Kelly, Shae E. Goodhue and her husband Chris, Tyler C. Blake and her husband Tim, Chelsey C. Weber and her husband Kevin, Matthew J. Sargo and his wife Jessica and Alexandra C. Sargo; eleven great-grandchildren, Ashton Arredondo, Sophia Kelly, Finley and Owen Goodhue, Rylan and Brayden Thacker, Caroline and Ford Blake, Travis Weber, Madison Cusack and Jackson Sargo. He was also the loving grandfather of the late Michael J. Thacker Jr.

William was predeceased by his five siblings, Fred Carroll, Mary Mulberry, Ruth Partridge, James Carroll and Helen Trahan.

He will be greatly missed by his loyal bichon, Princess.

His Funeral will be held on Monday February 5, 2024 from the

W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

Calling Hours are Sunday 3-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted.
