Senior Center Funds on Rehoboth Town Meeting Warrant

One of the articles on the November 7 Town Meeting warrant is a request for $759,814.80 to be appropriated from the Capital Stabilization Fund for repairs and maintenance for the Senior Center at Francis Farm.

Voters at the May 2021 town meeting approved the purchase of the 47 acre property at a cost of $2.8 million. Francis Hall is the home of the Council on Aging. The kitchen has been upgraded and new woodwork and doors were installed.

article states the funds will be spent on: “roof repair/replacement, signage, repairs & expansion of parking lots, enhancements to interior spaces and other capital improvements, along with maintenance of the facility, as it relates to the rebuilding, renovating and maintaining of the Senior Center and the needs of the seniors.”

The meeting will begin at 7 pm at the Museum Building at Francis Farm, 27 Francis Farm Road.

Other warrant articles include:
• To see if the Town will vote to appropriate, pursuant to MGL C. 44, S. 53F ¾, $601,893 from the PEG Access and Cable Fund for the purpose of supporting cable access services for the Town of Rehoboth; or take any other action relative thereto
• To see if the Town will vote to appropriate $16,903.98 from Free Cash to pay bills from the previous year as printed below; or take any other action relative thereto.
• To see if the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire by gift from the owner, George Handy of Fine Farm, the land and buildings of that property known as The Corn Crib located at the intersection of Tremont St. and Anawan St., further identified as Assessors’ Map 71, Lot 37 more or less, which shall include the corn crib structure and that portion of Assessors’ Map 71, Lot 37, as determined by the Board of Selectmen to be in the best interest of the Town as aforesaid, said property to be used for general municipal purposes and further to authorize the Board of Selectmen acquire by gift any and all easements appurtenant and necessary therefore and to execute any and all documents necessary to effectuate the same; and further to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds $4,200 for surveying costs said property; or take any other action relative thereto.
