Make Your Own Paper! Free, on Tues. June 9, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Learn the history of papermaking and make your own paper to take home. Fiber artist N. Maia Howes will lead this program for children ages 6 and up, accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. This free program is sponsored by the Rehoboth Cultural Council.

Touch A Truck! Free, on Sat. June 27, from noon to 3 p.m.
This will be a fun day of exploring trucks and other vehicles from our local rescue, police, fire department and more. Free and for all ages. No registration required. Among the cars and trucks on display will be a fire truck, a gator truck, an ambulance, a bookmobile, a military vehicle, a police car, a tractor, and vehicles from Munroe Dairy, Uncle Ed’s, Waste Management, Lopes Construction and J&J Construction. This is one of the library’s Centennial events this year.

Concert for Kids! Free, on Tues. June 30 at 1:30 p.m.
Summer vacation has officially started! Join us as Davis Bates & Roger Tincknell 'kick-off' our summer events with a lively concert. Hear how the bear missed the train, how the coyote got his howl & even learn how to play music with spoons! This program is free and for all ages. No registration required.
Summer program flyers, sign-ups lists, reading logs & bookmarks will be available to all who attend. This program is funded, in part, by the Rehoboth Cultural Council, a local agency of Mass. Cultural Council, and by the Friends of the Blanding Library.

The Day Lightning Struck! Free, on Sat. July 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The first Goff Hall was struck by lightning in 1911. (The new building was opened in 1915). Could lightning strike again? Find out more with a weather program for adults and children, courtesy of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This is another centennial event to celebrate Goff’s Hall 100th anniversary.

Jammers Celebration Dance Sunday Eve July 12
Celebrate Goff Hall’s 100th anniversary at a dance on Sunday July 12. This free dance, sponsored by the Sunday Night Jammers will feature music and dances of 100 years ago, which will be taught. Beginners of all ages are welcome with costumes from the time period encouraged. The evening will start with a potluck dinner at 6 pm and the dance will go from 7 to 9 p.m. You can find out more from Bob Elliott at 774-644-1369 or bobolinkelliott@yahoo.com.

Check the library’s website (www.blandinglibrary.net) for information on this summer’s reading program and summer story hours. More events will be announced next month. The library is now on social media too, including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. You can also find many discount passes to local museums and other attractions at your library for summer fun.

The Blanding Library is located at 124 Bay State Rd. Rehoboth. Phone 508-252-4236. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 8 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Sundays and holidays, including Saturday July 4. Happy summer to all!
