Selectmen Put Regional 911 Center on Hold

Posted

Selectmen are not moving forward on participating in a proposed regional 911 center at this time. Last month the board heard a presentation on a feasibility study by representatives of SRPEDD and the Skyline Group, a municipal planning consultant. The proposal involves creating a regional dispatch center in Fall River to serve Rehoboth, Dighton and Fall River. Another option would create a regional center in Dighton to serve Rehoboth and Dighton. The town agreed to be part of the study in hopes that regionalizing 911 services would save the town money, but the plan would actually cost more than the present system. Due to the cost and other concerns, selectmen decided to do more research before pursuing further discussions on the project.
