Local Barbershop Harmony Singers Bring Joy to Holiday Season

Narragansett Bay Men’s Chorus, Coastline Show Chorus and Harmony Heritage women’s a cappella chorus will bring joy to the holiday season with a special performance at 1 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the La Salette Shrine, located on 947 Park St, Attleboro, MA. The choruses will present a program that blends traditional holiday tunes with an entertaining mix of other repertoire.

“It is a joy and honor to be able to direct two of the three choruses in such a beautiful location, and at a time when music is truly needed to uplift the soul,” said Director Bob O’Connell. “For the finale, all three choruses will be onstage at the same time and singing my arrangement of ‘O Holy Night,’ I am so very excited and honored to be able to share this song with our audience.”

Doors will open at 12:45 pm, and admission is $15. Tickets can be obtained through a member of any of the choruses or by e-mailing Anne Nuttall at aenuttall@yahoo.com.  A very limited number of tickets will be sold at the door. The show will also feature performances from quartets Generations, Nantucket Sound, Let’s Sing, Trade Secret, OnTour, Second Nature and Past Curfew.

All three choruses sing in the barbershop harmony style, which traces its musical roots back to the turn of the 20th century. Today, barbershop harmony singers not only celebrate the classics, but also put their own spin on contemporary songs as well.

About Harmony Heritage:
Founded in 2001, the Rhode Island chapter of Harmony, Inc., also known as the Harmony Heritage chorus, brings four-part a cappella harmony to the local community through regular performances and educational events. The chorus consists of women representing a wide range of musical backgrounds, from novice to trained professionals, and performs under the direction of Bob O’Connell.
