Norma Elizabeth Stanley (Fairweather)

Norma Elizabeth Stanley (Fairweather) 81, of East Providence ended her journey on Earth on March 18, 2024. She was the wife of the late Earl Archibald and the late Robert Stanley. For the past 25 years she was the companion of the late Bobby Brown.


Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Fairweather and the late John and Helen (Clement) Mello. She also leaves to mourn her, her children Brian Archibald, Leann Archibald and Lavie Alves and her husband Ludgerio. Norma leaves ten grandchildren, Johnathan, Shantel, Shala and Anthony Dunn, Mark Varela, Malachi Stanley, Jade Brelsford, Delon Grant, Brian Archibald, Jr. and Jayla Archibald and seven great-grandchildren, Davian Watson, Aaliyah Rose, Mark Varela, III, and Amelia Varela, Jasiah, Jordan and Katina Dunn. She was the great-grandmother of the late Armani Dunn. Norma also leaves three sisters, Priscilla Mello of Warwick, Louwan Mello of East Providence and Joy Mello of Carmichael, California. She was the sister of the late George Clement, Carl Fairweather, Calvin Mello, Joan Maddox, Gloria Proffet Laroach and her husband Ronnie and Arva Gilliard and her husband Herman. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law John Maddox and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Norma was a graduate of Central High School. Before retiring, due to health concerns, Norma was a Secretary for the Department of Transportation for the State of Rhode Island. She loved her job because, "one could never ask for a more caring supervisor for whom she worked with".

Norma enjoyed Korean dramas, reading, cooking and music. For many years she knitted outfits for children who passed away at birth at Women and Infants Hospital. Norma attended Mt. Hope Community Baptist Church and posted a daily Bread Message on her computer to inspire others to depend on their faith. Throughout her life Norma had many friends who loved and supported her.


She will surely be missed by her family, friends and community. Her radiance will continue to be a light in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thank you goes out to her friend Ginger Veiga who remained at her side until her passing. May she rest in peace.


Her funeral service and visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a service to follow at 1:00 PM.
