Germaine “Maine” Ferland, 78, of Riverside, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Born on June 25, 1946, Germaine was the beloved daughter of the late Leo Ferland and Elizabeth Turner. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Ferland, and is survived by her sister, Deborah Farrar.

Germaine was a devoted nurse for 40 years, spending 15 years at Pawtucket Memorial and 25 years at Rhode Island Hospital. She was known for her kind heart and unwavering dedication to caring for others — a calling that extended well beyond her profession.

She was an active member of Saints Matthew and Mark Episcopal Church, where she participated in various ministries, including the Altar Guild and John’s Meals. She also knitted for the annual bazaar and the Seaman’s Institute.

Maine was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, helping others, or relaxing in her favorite recliner. She was a proud aunt to Christopher, Stephen, Kenneth, and Bryan, and a loving great-aunt to Thomas, Kenny, Mark, Walker, Weston, Magen, and Winnifred.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 24, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. at Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., Riverside, RI 02915. A Funeral Mass will follow on Friday, April 25, at 9:30 AM. at Saints Matthew and Mark Episcopal Church, 5 Chapel Road., Barrington, RI. Burial will take place immediately after at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Rd., North Kingstown, RI.

Following the burial, a collation will be held at Gregg’s Restaurant, 4120 Quaker Ln., North Kingstown, RI.

In lieu of flowers, Maine requested that donations be made to Saints Matthew and Mark Episcopal Church, 5 Chapel Road., Barrington, RI 02806.

Germaine’s compassion, kindness, and warmth will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
