GFWC Wampanoag Women’s Club News

On October 16th, 2025 the GFWC Wampanoag Women’s Club (WWC) hosted the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Rhode Island Fall Meeting at Elizabeth’s Portofino Tuscan Grille in Warwick. Kris Rose, President, WWC provided the welcome and a brief history of the WWC. Other WWC members in attendance were responsible for the Pledge of Allegiance, Thought for the Day, and Grace (Maureen Nolan); reporting to the Credentials Committee (Angela Prew); and a Collect for Clubwomen (Susan Smith). Guest speakers were Krista Cunnungham, Deputy Director, RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Kathy McCormick, Sisters Overcoming Abusive Relationships.

The WWC held their second meeting of the season on October 27th, 2025 at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Guests included Alexandra Hahn, President GFWC RI and Annmarie Mullen, President-Elect GFWC RI. In honor of Veteran’s Day, the members created greeting cards to be delivered to the residents of the Rhode Island Veterans Home on November 10th, 2025.

The WWC proudly maintains the Garden of Flags, a veterans memorial located on Veterans Memorial Parkway (Squantum Woods), East Providence. The City of East Providence will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Garden of Flags on November 11th at 10:00 am. WWC members will be in attendance.
