Sen. DiMario, Rep. Speakman honored by R.I. Dermatology Society

State House – The Rhode Island Dermatology Society this week honored Sen. Alana M. DiMario and Rep. June S. Speakman as “Advocacy Champions” for their support of skin health for Rhode Islanders.

“We honor Representative Speakman and Senator DiMario for being champions for patient safety and skin health, particularly at medical spas,” said Dr. Reuben Reich, president of the Rhode Island Dermatology Society.

Senator DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown, New Shoreham) and Representative Speakman (D-Dist. 68, Warren, Bristol) were chosen for the award for their longstanding support of skin health and safety measures at the State House.

Leaders of the society presented the awards Thursday at the State House during an event called “Derms on the Hill” to mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month in May. Dermatologists spoke with legislators about the importance of skin health for Rhode Islanders and provided skin cancer screenings to anyone interested.
