Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School Superintendent Bill Runey has been named the recipient of Tech & Learning Incorporated’s 2025 New England Innovative Superintendent Award.
The Tech & Learning Innovative Superintendent Award celebrates district leaders who have pioneered impactful educational strategies that drive student success and serve as models for other districts. Superintendent Runey’s leadership reflects the district’s commitment to creating a dynamic, student-centered environment where innovation, empowerment, and the pursuit of excellence are at the forefront.
As part of the award, Runey will be featured in Tech & Learning magazine and will be recognized at the National Innovative Leader Summit in December. The award highlights his visionary leadership in transforming the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District (DRRSD) to embrace cutting-edge educational practices and technology, aligning with the district’s strategic plan, DRiving Toward 2030.
“I am incredibly honored to receive this award, and I believe it is a testament to the dedication of our District Leadership Team and the support of our School Committee,” said Runey. “The work we are doing to empower our educators, ignite curiosity in our students, and shape a future-ready educational environment is critical to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. This recognition reinforces our ongoing commitment to innovation and continuous improvement as we move our #WeAreDR community toward 2030 and beyond.”
Under Runey’s leadership, the school district has implemented numerous initiatives designed to foster an innovative and student-centered learning environment.
“This award is well-deserved and a reflection of Superintendent Runey’s forward-thinking approach to education,” said school committee chairman Aaron Morse. “His leadership has transformed our district, and the impact of his work is being felt by students, staff, and the broader community. We are grateful for his vision, and we look forward to continuing to work together as we shape the future of education at Dighton-Rehoboth.”
