Rehoboth Selectmen are planning to make it easier for residents to file stable permits.
Selectman Rob Johnson said applications for the permits were due to be returned to the Board of Health on April 1.
“I know a lot of them haven’t come back,” Johnson noted.
Tish Vadnais, the chair of the Agricultural Commission, complained about the process at Monday’s meeting. One of the options is to file the permits electronically.
“They charge you a fee to use that system,” Vadnais said. “I disagree with that. If I’m going to pay a license as a stable permit or whatever it is for the farm, there’s a real problem with that whole system.”
Johnson told Vadnais the Board of Health will send out a hard copy of the application if a resident requests one.
Skip Vadnais, the Board of Selectmen chair, said licensees were supposed to be notified when their permits are due.
Selectman David Pereira will check with the Board of Health to see if hard copy notifications are being mailed out.
“I’ll get to the bottom of it so we’ll see what we can do to make it easier for the residents to get their licenses,” Pereira said. “I don’t want them to have to pay an extra fee if they don’t have to.”
