Greater Taunton Woman’s Club Scarecrow

Posted

Riding along Winthrop Street / Route 44 after viewing all the lovely, decorated scarecrows in the downtown area you come upon the GFWC Greater Taunton Woman’s Club scarecrow. Dressed in purple attire and bowed hat, surrounded by a garden of purple pinwheels. Many of the 90 pinwheels have written domestic violence quotes printed by members to bring awareness to the community for victims of abuse and words of wisdom to share for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Some of the quotes were “I am a survivor not a victim”, “Don’t judge yourself by what others did to you” and “” You are the light that refused to surrender” among many others. The pinwheels were put together by club members and two Martin Middle School students under the direction of their STEM teacher. If you stop to read some of the quotes, take a picture and send it to our website: www.gfwcgreatertauntonwomen.org  or Facebook page.
