Hornbine School Museum Celebrating The Country’s Semiquincentenial

The Hornbine School Museum is happy to announce a number of special exhibits this season that will feature The 3 R’s: Road to Revolution in Rehoboth. We will have displays about local connections to many key figures in the Revolutionary War as well as Colonial Currency and a pictorial alphabet with the sites and symbols of Colonial America. You will also have a chance to SIGN the Declaration of Independence in true Hornbine style… with a feather pen! Children will have an opportunity to attend a special craft day. We will also have (new) themed ‘History Talks’.

MAY 17, 2026 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Children from 7 to 10 years - Join us at Hornbine’s one-room schoolhouse for a Felicity story and a hands-on activity, at a ‘Felicity Sewing Bee’, celebrating America’s special 250th anniversary. Felicity is an American doll set in the Revolutionary War era. Learn to hand sew a patriotic sachet (called a “sweete bag”) filled with fragrant herbs or spices. There will also be light refreshments served.

*parents are encouraged to stay. Where: Hornbine School, 146 Hornbine Road, Rehoboth, MA. Fee to attend: as a fundraiser for our non-profit, there’s a fee of $7.76 per child.


JUNE 7TH: Visit us at our Hornbine School Museum table at the Carpenter Museum’s Strawberry Festival from 1 – 5 pm. We’ll have a computer slide show, activities for the children and information about our “3 R’s: Road to Revolution in Rehoboth” activities this season.

JUNE 14TH: We are delighted to be able to offer a NEW series called ‘History Talks’. June’s ‘History Talk,’ scheduled for 3:00 pm, focuses on the History of Education and Hornbine School and will take place on flag day! Come learn something new and enjoy light refreshments including a red, white and blue punch and cheese & crackers. The cost goes directly to funding our “History Talks” and is only $1.76!
