Rehoboth Ambulance Committee Deploys Two New LUCAS 3 Mechanical CPR Devices, Thanks to Town of Rehoboth Investment

Posted

Rehoboth, MA — The Rehoboth Ambulance Committee, Inc. (RAC) is proud to announce the deployment of two new LUCAS 3 mechanical CPR devices to its fleet, replacing two older units that had reached the end of their service life. The devices were purchased by the Town of Rehoboth through a warrant article approved by voters at the 2024 Annual Town Meeting.

The LUCAS 3 device delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest, performing CPR at guideline-recommended depth and rate without interruption or fatigue. This consistency allows EMS crews to maintain continuous, high-quality compressions during transport, while freeing personnel to perform other lifesaving interventions such as airway management, medication administration, and patient assessment — all of which improve a patient's chance of survival.

“This investment directly strengthens the level of care we can provide to every resident and visitor in Rehoboth,” said Steven Przeszlo, Director, Rehoboth Ambulance Committee. “Cardiac arrest is one of the most time-critical emergencies we respond to, and having reliable, modern equipment on every call makes a real difference in outcomes. We are grateful to the Town and to the voters who supported this warrant article.”

A Growing Partnership

This purchase reflects the continued strengthening of the public/private partnership between the Rehoboth Ambulance Committee and the Town of Rehoboth. Together, the Town and RAC are working to ensure that the community's emergency medical services are equipped with the tools, training, and technology needed to meet the growing needs of Rehoboth residents.

“The relationship between the Town and the Ambulance Committee has never been stronger,” said Skip Vadnais, Chairman, Board of Selectman. “This is one of several steps we're taking together to invest in the future of EMS in Rehoboth, and we're excited about what's ahead.”
