Seekonk Police Joins Neighbors App

Posted

The Seekonk Police Department has joined the Neighbors app.

Neighbors Public Safety Service (NPSS) is the interface that allows local officials to connect, communicate and share hyper-local updates with their communities. With NPSS, users can see and comment on publicly posted content from the Neighbors App feed, share real-time posts, and request assistance to help with an active investigation. Only public safety agencies are able to make Request for Assistance posts.

Four common types of posts that agencies create include:

  • Public Service Announcements and crime prevention tips.
  • City/County announcements or event information.
  • Providing new information about a situation or incident.

“Ring has made their “Neighbors app” available to Municipalities to put out information to folks who subscribe to the app,” Police Chief David Enos explained. “It’s a program that gives us just another way to make notifications to the public. The app is a tool to ask the public for help with things like Missing Persons and crimes in a particular area.”
