Seekonk’s Catholic Churches Conduct Food Drives for Local Food Pantries

Posted

The Roman Catholic parishes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs conducted a joint food collection on the weekend of April 5th & 6th for benefit of the Doorways food pantry in Seekonk and the Rehoboth food pantry in Rehoboth. These food drives have become semi-annual events for these sister parishes over the last several years. The joint food drive was organized by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and it was an enormous success with a great deal of food collected to help stock the cupboards of local homes for weeks to come. At Doorways, we believe that the dignity of our shopper/neighbors is enhanced when they are able to select their favorite foods from a variety of choices, but that desirable variety is only attainable thanks to the efforts of local food drives. The community of Doorways would like to thank the parishioners of these two churches for their generosity to our neighbors in need, and we thank the SVdP society for arranging this collection. This truly represents “Love thy neighbor”. God bless you all.
