11th Annual Interfaith Poverty Conference

The Rhode Island Interfaith Coalition to Reduce Poverty is hosting their eleventh annual conference on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 8:00 am – 12:30 pm. The conference will be held at the Donovan Dining Center at Rhode Island College in Providence.

The Rhode Island Interfaith Coalition to Reduce Poverty organizes Rhode Island’s faith community to connect the common threads of faith and tradition in order to build awareness, advocate for, accompany, and empower poor communities.

The conference’s special guest keynote speaker is Rev. Aundreia Alexander, Associate General Secretary for Joint Action and Advocacy for Justice and Peace for the National Council of Churches (NCC). In addition to the keynote, the conference will feature three workshops: Locked Out: Housing Discrimination & Affordable Housing Scarcity in RI, Fair Wages & Fair Work: A Hard Look at Minimum Wage, Equal Pay, and Workplace Discrimination, and Does RI Work?: Bolstering the RI Works Program and Supports for Children and Families.
