Seekonk Town Meeting Postponed to 2021

Seekonk’s fall town meeting, which had been scheduled for December 5, has been postponed to January 4, 2021. Town Moderator Peter Hoogerzeil made the decision to continue the meeting from November 9 to December 5 due to the rising rate of Covid-19 infections in Massachusetts.

“Since that time, the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 has increased at the local, state and national level,” Hoogerzeil wrote in a message posted to the town website – www.seekonk-ma.gov.  “Therefore, this is to declare a further recess and continuance of the November 9, 2020 meeting to Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Seekonk High School at 7:00 p.m.” 

Hoogerzeil added: “I have issued this Declaration after careful and considerable deliberation about the implications of the rapid spread of the disease, present lack of containment, and risk to most vulnerable populations inherent in large public gatherings at this time, as well as the particular increase of COVID-19 cases in Seekonk.”
