Seekonk Officials Address Speed on Brown Avenue

Posted

Town officials are working on a plan to address speed limits on Brown Avenue following complaints from residents.

Select Board member Elizabeth Elmasian explained there is a posted speed limit of 30 miles per hour and further down the roadway is a sign for 40 miles per hour.

“We need some consistency,” Elmasian said at Wednesday’s meeting. “It’s very misleading to have a sign saying 30 and then it changes to 40.”

Police Chief David Enos is also aware of complaints, noting the police department has deployed a speed trailer and has stationed officers along the roadway.

Enos told the board the department will record the speeds of cars on the roadway.

“It’s definitely not a quiet road,” Enos added.
